Why does the in-car display show the elevator stopping at a floor twice?

Modified on Fri, 2 Oct at 10:19 AM

The in-car display shows the elevator’s planned route for all calls currently allocated to it, including those for passengers waiting to be collected.

Several combinations of calls could produce the sequence shown. For example, passengers travelling down from floor 6 may be getting off at floors 5 and 3. The elevator then continues to Reception to collect passengers travelling up to floors 1 and 5.

Floor 5 therefore appears twice: once on the downward journey and again on the upward journey.
